SyMech's products are integrated software components for major CAD applications. They simplify function-first design for mechanisms.
Engineers want to think first in terms of an overall function. SyMech™ makes that possible. SyMech™ expedites finding an optimal solution in realtime, enabling features and functionality whose creation would previously have been prohibitive.
Deploying SyMech's™ design capability across your enterprise will dramatically reduce your company's time to market, slash development costs, and unleash new product possibilities.
SyMech™ uses patent-pending FunctionFirst™ technology which allows engineers and designers to create optimal mechanisms in seconds. Previously, mechanism design was a time-consuming and iterative, try-it-and-change-it process that took weeks or even months. For some complicated mechanisms, iterative design would be impossible.
SyMech™ software allows engineers to escape from the Design-Build-Test methodology, introducing the far more efficient world of Synthesize-Optimal Solution. With SyMech™, designers and engineers are able to synthesize their parts design together with built-in dynamic mechanisms. SyMech™ then immediately adjusting for the optimal solution. The model not only animates in realtime, but the synthesis remains while the designer moves points and parts and explores different possibilities, all the while the software is adjusting the optimal solution. The resulting increase in efficiency heralds a new era of product development that allows for the more efficient and innovative design of consumer, industrial, and manufacturing products.

About the founder
Jonathan Cook, Founder and President of SyMech™, Inc, lectures worldwide on mechanism design and works with leading mechanical engineering researchers, such as Homer Eckhardt, Art Erdman, Michael McCarthy, and Robert Norton.
He has worked as a design engineer in industry for 10 years, prior to starting SyMech™. He began his engineering career with the Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Corporation, where he designed advanced jet engines, later testing those engines at NASA's Lewis Research Center. He has gone on to work with leading companies such as K2, Allied Signal, Polaroid, Newbridge Networks, Raytheon, Texas Instruments, Marconi, DuPont, U.S. Surgical, Aerodyne, Seagate, Lucent Technologies, Parametic Technology Corporation, and John Deere.
Because of design tool limitations, which restrict the ability to design and create complex mechanisms, Jonathan founded SyMech™. "My vision is to have companies change the way they design mechanisms, shifting from an iterative process to a synthesis process."
He has a B.A. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Rhode Island, studying under Prof. Daniel G. Olson, student of lineage from the Father of Mechanism Design, Ferdinand Freudenstein.
